On November 11th, a museum opened in Abu Dhabi. And as is fitting for a city known for its glittering skyscrapers and  luxury accommodations, it wasn't just any museum. A collaboration with the Louvre in Paris, the Louvre Abu Dhabi is being billed as a new culture hub for the Middle East.

In 2017, some 50 of the world’s top watchmakers have donated timepieces made specifically for Only Watch – a biennial charity auction of unique luxury timepieces in Geneva. Among the timepieces in this year’s sale is the Wostep desk watch, engraved with the names of the 16 alumni of the Watchmakers of Switzerland Training and Educational Program in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. Graduates of the prestigious program have gone on to become master watchmakers and teachers, says horological expert Peter Speake-Marin, ’imparting their knowledge and expertise to the new generation.’

Boston, MA- The Institute of Contemporary Art/Boston (ICA) will open the Watershed, a new seasonal space for art, with a major project by internationally renowned artist Diana Thater, announced Jill Medvedow, Ellen Matilda Poss Director of the ICA, today. Opening in summer 2018, the Watershed is located across Boston Harbor from the ICA in the East Boston Shipyard and Marina. The ICA will provide a boat to bring visitors between both locations.

New York, NY- On December 2 and 3, the New Museum will celebrate its fortieth anniversary with “Who’s Afraid of the New Now? 40 Artists in Dialogue to Celebrate the New Museum’s Anniversary.”

An auction of the estate of Harriet Gould is bringing new works by big names to the public. According to the auction house, John McInnis Auctioneers, Gould's son, Jon Gould, was the former Vice President of Paramount pictures, and a close friend of Andy Warhol's. Upon Jon Gould's death in 1986, his belongings, including works by Warhol, Keith Haring, and Jean-Michel Basquiat, were stored in his mother Harriet's attic in Amesbury, Massachusets. Now that her estate is being sold, these newly rediscovered treasures are up at auction.

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) showcases some gems in its collection that relate to the concept of “home” in the exhibition “Making Home: Contemporary Art from the DIA,” on view Dec. 1, 2017–June 6, 2018. The exhibition is free with museum admission, which is free for residents of Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties.
